Andrea Parrish and Peter Geyer — aka the “Wedding Can Couple” — say they’ve reached their goal of recycling 400,000 aluminum cans to pay for their July 31 nuptials. Parrish, who grows organic vegetables in her front yard in Spokane, Wash., told USA Today’s GreenHouse in January that she figured recycling cans would be an eco-friendly way to fund their $3,800 DIY wedding. She set up a website and word spread quickly. The couple says it took 197 days to reach their goal, collecting on average one can about every 40 seconds.
