Is Counting “Green Jobs” A Green Job Or A Hazardous Undertaking?

What is a green job? Installing solar panels may be an obvious one, but what about making jewelry from used materials? A used-car salesman, can that be considered a green job? Last month the Department of Commerce published a report called “Measuring the Green Economy” that attempts to define green jobs by placing them into two categories, broad and narrow. Based on this definition, the report estimates that green jobs only make up 1 to 2% of the workforce. There is certainly room to grow in this area.
