Since Hurricane Katrina, the City of New Orleans has been experiencing massive rebuilding projects that have questioned traditional building practices. This process has resulted in an incredible growth of green building projects in the City, especially in those hard-hit, lower-income areas where energy-efficiency was previously viewed as a high-end luxury. The tenacity of those working in the City, and numerous organizations around the country who are dedicated to building more energy efficient, durable and comfortable homes for those affected, has proven to be a very impressive undertaking.
